Laser Hair Removal
Ditch The Wax - Ditch The Razor - Go For Laser
Waxing, plucking, hair removal creams or home products, can remove hair but only on a temporary basis. With the advances of laser hair removal it has become a more reliable, safer and affordable way in removing body hair.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal uses laser technology to specifically target the hair root to destroy it stopping it from growing back again. It’s also a good treatment option for people suffering from medical conditions that result in excessive hair.
What makes this laser different from other lasers?
The new Duetto M.T. has two lasers, with the ability to use the Alexandrite (the gold standard for hair removal in clients with fairer skin) and the Nd:Yag laser which is considered as the only safe laser to use on darker skin. This technology enables the use of Alexandrite and Nd:Yag individually or combined together thus proving a more effective and tailored treatment to suit individual patients. The machine is more hygienic than many other machines as no gel is applied and the laser head does not touch the skin.
How does the treatment feel?
Treatment sensation can vary from client to client but it is often described as ‘a flick of an elastic band’. When using the Cryo cooler with the laser machine patients have described the discomfort as moderate.
Am I suitable for the treatment?
Most people are suitable for treatment, best results are often seen with patients who have fair skin and dark hair, as darker hair has more melanin, fairer hair has proven very difficult to remove. White and grey hairs are not targeted at all.
How many treatments shall I need?
The number of treatments can vary, but normally we would recommend 6-12 treatments, this depends how well the hair reacts and if the client keeps up to recommended appointments.
Can I have the treatment done if I have a suntan?
No, it is very important that there is no active tan in the area to be treated, and it is advisable to avoid sun exposure for one month prior to treatment. Self tan should be completely off the area to be treated.
Are there any side effects?
The skin can be slightly red with raised follicles after the treatment, this is normal and will normally disappear quickly, adverse reactions are extremely rare e.g. Burns, Blisters, Hyper/Hypo pigmentation.
Why does it require more than one treatment?
When we use laser in other stages of hair growth the results are less intense. In addition to this, hairs can go into a rest period at different periods of time, therefore, we can never treat them all in one go and a course of treatments will effectively catch them all at the right stage. With the twin laser even after one session most people will see a difference. How many sessions that will be require depends on the hair growth, normally 3-12 sessions.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes, a patch test is required on every area you wish to get treated, this patch test will only last for 3 months then a re-patch test is required. If a gap of 3 months is left in between treatments a re-patch test is also required. You must wait at least 7 days from the patch test before treatment can commence.
