Red/Thread veins (telangiectasia) are small unsightly superficial red, purple or blue veins that occur around the nose, cheeks, chin and legs.
How do Red/Thread Veins happen?
Red/Thread veins may be hereditary or as a result of a variety of factors including damage from sun exposure, wind and the extremes of temperature. The over use of steroid creams and certain auto immune conditions may also induce thread veins. Often the exact cause is unknown and may just be part of the natural ageing process or as a part of a skin condition called rosacea.

Each client is given a copy of about the treatment and aftercare before any treatment is carried out. The client may notice redness, slight swelling or puffiness which can last from a few hours to a few days. Rare reactions maybe blistering, scarring, indentation but they are rare. Following the aftercare advice will reduce any potential risks and adverse reactions.
Do I require a course of treatment?
Yes, the laser emits light which is readily absorbed by the blood vessels, heating them to point where they are destroyed. Following each treatment, the vessels quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion. Typically two to six treatments may be required depending on red/thread vein, though small lesions may clear in just one to three sessions. We recommend once a year check up at the clinic.
How long does results last?
Immediately after treatment some thread veins will disappear but may some may re-occur a few days later less visible. With further treatment they will disappear and are not likely to reoccur. Maintenance sessions may not be required as results can be long-lasting, however after full treatment we do advise to come into the clinic for a check-up once a year. Treatment is carried out once every 4-6 weeks depending on red/thread vein.
